As a pioneer, innovator, and market leader in welded plate heat exchanger technology, Vahterus customizes each unit according to customer requirements. Manufactured in Kalanti, Finland, the fully welded structure makes them suitable even for the most demanding conditions. In addition to Finland, Vahterus has production operations in China – with over 90% of Finnish production exported globally.
Since the 2022 energy crisis, the demand for energy efficiency and conservation has taken on new urgency. Vahterus’ solutions directly address this need, and the company has experienced significant growth in recent years – a trend it aims to continue in the future.
– We are pursuing growth in a controlled way without compromising product quality. Achieving that goal takes work, and a reliable partner network is essential in meeting our growing demands, says Anders Donner, Strategic Purchaser at Vahterus.

Built like Vahterus would’ve built it
Vahterus operates with a philosophy of continuous product development and seeks new applications for its existing technologies. The company’s products are especially in demand in the LNG sector, where Vahterus offers a compact yet highly efficient solution.
Certain production phases have been outsourced to free up internal resources for areas that require more manpower.
– The quality of Mesekon’s work matches our own. By outsourcing specific stages, we’ve improved our ability to meet customer expectations on delivery times, Donner notes.
Mesekon supplies heat exchanger shells to Vahterus – these are the pressure vessel casings into which the welded plate packs are installed. The shells are welded manually, with dedicated welders assigned to each project. This is a critical part of quality assurance, as the welding requirements are exceptionally strict.
– We expect our partners to prioritize quality from the start and ensure all actions are carried out to the highest standard. We hold our partners to the same expectations we have for our own production, Donner emphasizes.

Vahterus values forward-looking partners – those who think beyond the next quarter
– We want partners who are ready to tackle challenges with an open and proactive mindset.
One of the strengths of the collaboration with Mesekon has been their openness to dialogue and curiosity to explore new possibilities.
– We’ve had a very open line of communication with Mesekon. Together, we’re exploring ways they can evolve and expand their current offering, says Donner.
He also highlights the shared commitment to improving the partnership over time.
– I really appreciate that both sides are motivated to keep developing our collaboration. We approach challenges openly and discuss solutions without unnecessary formality, Donner says.

Vahterus operates within the energy sector – one of fifteen industries served by Stairon Group.
